Itikaf

The Itikaf Programme takes place in the last ten days of the month, beginning just before Maghrib of the 21st night. The programme is currently organised by the Deputy Director. A Registration Form is available from the first week of Ramadan from the Liaison Team at the Centre’s reception desk or by email from the Deputy Director and here.

There are 20 places on the Itikaf programme and these places are awarded on the basis of the following criteria, in order of priority:

  1. Firstly, at least five places will be reserved for those applicants who have not offered Itikaf before; and/or
  2. Secondly, at least ten places will be reserved for those applicants whose are locally based, defined as a permanent home address with a postcode within two miles of the Centre as measured by “Google Maps”; and/or
  3. Thirdly, at least two places will be reserved for applicants (if any) who have given outstanding service to the Centre during the year leading up to Ramadan.

If there are more applicants than places, selection will be made by Qura’ (a randomized selection process).

The Centre’s decisions are final and not the subject of any appeal.

Those offered a place on the Itikaf Programme need to pay a non-returnable fee of £20 to secure their place. The fee is reduced to £5 for those who provide documentary evidence of receipt of Income Support.
